About Settlin: Frequently Asked Questions
From atomic finality to MiCA compliance, find the technical and operational details behind our universal settlement layer.
What is Settlin?
Settlin is a universal, non-custodial settlement layer for digital assets, architected to process billions in volume upon launch. It is being built as a market-neutral engine that will enable secure, near-instantaneous settlement across any blockchain network. Institutions will integrate Settlin to eliminate traditional settlement risks and achieve regulatory ‘Best Settlement’ by continuously proving compliance at every step of an asset’s movement.
How does Settlin achieve atomic T+0 settlement?
Settlin is designed to achieve atomic T+0 settlement by targeting average execution times of just 100 milliseconds using a patent-pending control plane that simultaneously locks both sides of a transaction. This ensures that digital assets remain strictly under user control until every leg of the transaction is fully ready. Once ready, the transaction will execute atomically, meaning both sides complete simultaneously, or the transaction fails entirely and nothing moves. This upcoming process operates directly on native assets, entirely eliminating the need for bilateral bridges, wrapped assets, or pooled wallets.
Is Settlin a bridge or a settlement layer?
Settlin is being built strictly as a settlement layer and control plane, not a bridge. Unlike current bilateral bridges that rely on pooled honeypots (which have historically resulted in $2bn of losses) Settlin’s architecture sits above existing network rails to orchestrate the movement of native assets. It will actively enforce policy and mathematically prove compliance without ever taking custody or pooling user funds.
How does Settlin ensure compliance with EU MiCA regulations?
Settlin is engineered to ensure the enablement of EU MiCA compliance by directly satisfying the regulatory requirement for a “likelihood of settlement”. It will achieve this by replacing probabilistic finality (which leaves a window of risk/reversibility for institutions) with deterministic atomic settlement. At launch, Settlin will provide regulated entities with the legal certainty that a transaction is final and compliant at the exact moment of execution by using policy-driven routing and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proof attestations.
What is "Best Settlement" and how does Settlin enforce it?
Best Settlement is the post-trade equivalent of MiFID’s Best Execution framework. It is built on five core pillars: deterministic finality, economic efficiency, low latency, trust elimination, and compliance compatibility. Settlin will enforce Best Settlement by allowing partners to define their specific policies. Then, Settlin’s AI routing engine is trained to evaluate real-time parameters such as risk tolerance, fees, liquidity depth, network congestion, and slippage to find the optimal path across all network rails. ZK-proofs attest that every completed settlement strictly followed the defined policy.
How does Settlin minimise counterparty and settlement risk?
Settlin’s architecture will minimise counterparty and settlement risk by functioning as an entirely non-custodial control plane. Assets will only move directly between participants after all cryptographic conditions of the trade are fully validated. By never holding user funds, Settlin is designed to remove reliance on any single intermediary entity, effectively preventing the types of systemic risks associated with centralized exchange collapses, targeting an uptime percentage of 99.99% and success rate for compliant trades.
How are ZK-Proofs be used for settlement?
Settlin is integrating a hybrid Zero-Knowledge (ZK) architecture to mathematically verify transactions. These ZK-proofs will be used to attest that a valid transfer occurred on a source chain, without revealing sensitive data such as the transaction amounts, sender identity, or specific routing logic to the destination chain. Generating these cryptographic guarantees in an anticipated 3 – 5 seconds, this approach will simultaneously deliver transaction privacy, mathematical verification, and audit-ready proof bundles tailored for regulators.
Which networks and assets does Settlin currently support?
Settlin is being developed as a chain-agnostic platform. At our upcoming launch, the settlement layer is slated to support major networks, including Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche , managing initial USDC, ETH, SOL and AVAX assets. There is also planned future support for various permissioned bank chains. Built with an API-first approach, Settlin’s infrastructure will allow for seamless integration into existing corporate treasuries, exchanges, and wallets in a matter of days, rather than months.
